So what is the Blue Room all about?

My son has an _ _ ASD_ _ an Autistic Spectrum Disorder and is diagnosed as having Asperger Syndrome.

He attends a special school [a very special school] and this forum is named after a room at his school.

What is this room for?
It is padded from floor to ceiling [yes essentially a padded cell],it is somewhere the students can go [or get taken] when they reach overload and need to vent their frustrations,kick and scream.

In this room they cannot harm themselves or others.
The room also serves as a place of peace and quiet , somewhere they can go to get away from the world for a while and that is what the "Blue Room" forum is for.

As an autsitic person,or a parent,carer or family member, of someone with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder this is intended to be your place to scream if you need or to find some peace and get away from the stresses that can come from dealing with Autistic Spectrum Disorder's.

There are sections for both purposes, and also a forum for all the fun and humour that can arise from being with the Autistic Spectrum.

We have links to charities and services and sections for news and information.
If you run support groups or know of anyone that does and would like to add your information please make contact via the contact us link at the bottom of the forum.

If you have a particular interest or have an idea for a new forum section please pop it in the suggestions box.

We have changed direction slightly , originally we set up to cater for parents and carers but there have been some enquiries regarding membership from adults that are on the Autistic Spectrum, asking if they would be allowed to join this forum,the answer is YES , it is clear that there is a very real need for support/friendship networks for such people and we can most certainly change to accomodate them.

So if you are autistic,have Asperger's Syndrome etc. then please join us and tell us what you would like to see here,don't just visit as a guest,sign up and take part,make this your home from home.
