Default Hello from Carey2

So,who am I?

I am a single dad who has cared for his ASD son since he was 8 months old.

I have had to fight a long hard battle to get my boy the help and education he needs and is entitled to.

There have been court dates, appeals for his benefits, endless trips to hospitals and therapists and fights with education officers that appeared to be utterly clueless.

We have survived it all ,just, and my son is now attending a special school in Frome Somerset, where he is extremely happy and at last really enjoying life.

We live in Dorset on the south coast of the UK.

Hi Carey,
You sound like a great dad, I am so glad you have found a comfortable life for your son. It is hard just being a single parent let alone having a child with ASD. Having a child with needs that you do not know how to meet, is such a challenge! It is wonderful that you have started this site ands I am sure there are many perents out there that you can help with your experience. I am so happy for you and your son :D

I'll take all the friends i can get! I like to hear all your stories..

A bit more about me..im a single mummy hanging on to my sanity hard!

One a.s boy of 10,one non a.s boy of 8 and 2 older ones who have left.:frown

Just started my tribunal proceedings against my local L.E.A,non-stop dealings with phone calls and paperwork at present so extra tired but should be finished with the majority within a day or two, then i can relax for christmas.

Little lad is very excited about christmas but throwing him out somewhat and having extra difficulties.

I live next door to an old folks home..i wish sometimes i was old enough to go get all that rest and peace and quiet!
