Thankyou for the invite. My son is 10 with aspergers and ive never met anyone else with it properly,so the opportunity to talk to you is most welcome by me,thankyou.

Here are my questions-for now.

How do YOU view people and the world..i've only read it from books so a personal account i would appreciate.

The doctor is encouraging medication for my son,for his agressive tendancies,i put it on it for a while with no success although the doctor said i should of increased it but i feel so nervous about medicating him..should i be wary?

Did you have problems with the education system?

....i think that will do for now...i will have lots if you dont mindthankyou!

Hi, Andy!
How long have you known about your DX? Do you go to school? What are you most interested and/or talented in doing/learning about?

I view people I think the way others do. I view different people in different ways and it depends on the person and the way they act towards me.

What medication is the doctor encouraging rainbows? I take medication myself and I can't say it's all bad, but be careful.

I've never had problems with the education system. I'm in college right now. I go back to school for my 3rd year @ Jan 16 2008.

I've known about my dx since I was 15 years old.

My interests are computers and psychology. I like most playing sims 2. I'm taking psychology classes in college.

Hi andy, thankyou for your reply, best of luck to you in your studying.

Risperodone was the medication advised.Im very temped to go back to it again if it will help with his aggression. My reservations are ,i remember the doc a year ago saying it may take the edge of things but his moods have cut down significantly already..so i wonder if it will actually do more. But the moods are still there frequent enough.

I know no-one can make my mind up for me on this,i just worry about side-effects.oh-whats a mum to do?

This page looks like a useful resource on the question here:

RISPERDAL Autism

I can understand your concerns - using anti-psychotic drugs on our children seems so extreme! I know I would be worried if my doctor suggested this for my son.

One thing you might like to look into is checking for Pyroluria and then using a related vitamin regime. It's a less extreme approach and I've heard good stories. I posted info on this previously here:

Pyroluria

Good luck!

I found this a few days back as my son is on Citalapram/Cipramil and when he tried to come off it he experienced dreadful withdrawl sypmtoms.

It seems the length of time needed to reduce the dose then stop the drug is far greater than stated by his consultant.

netsavy-so how old are you now and what age was you diagnosed?
how does it really feel to have aspergers,is it uncomfortable having 'a label',my 11 yr old knows he has aspergers and seems fine about it now but i worry when he's a bit older and may feel bothered by it?How may i reassure him about that?
